When will Jack Sock rediscover his ATP singles game?
By Harry Floyd
Jack Sock enters and exits the 2019 Australian Open just like that. Will the former rising ATP singles star rebound this year?
American tennis star Jack Sock is not so much that anymore in terms of men’s singles. He falters during his 2019 Australian Open match against Alex Bolt. While Sock took the first set, he then folded, giving up the final three sets and the match.
Bolt, a 26-year-old Australian tennis player, defeats Sock 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2. We have to wonder if Sock can rediscover his ATP singles game this year or not…

Last year, Sock saw incredible success on the men’s doubles circuit. Alongside fellow countryman Mike Bryan, Sock would win Wimbledon, the US Open, and the ATP Finals. An incredible all-around feat. With brother Bob out due to injury, Mike teamed up with the burgeoning young American and it paid off.
On the singles side last year, Sock could not find his game. So far in 2019, it appears that he is in the same position. Will he be able to turn it around in the coming months?
As the Australian Open rolls on without the young American tennis star, Sock must regroup and refocus on the schedule ahead. It is still too early in the year to panic but he ought to challenge himself to impress sooner rather than later. Just two years ago, Sock cracked the ATP top ten in men’s singles, going all the way up to the world number eight ranking.
Time will tell whether or not Jack Sock can bounce back in men’s singles. He has never gone beyond the fourth round of any Grand Slam and another year in his current slump could hurt his prestige on the courts. Meanwhile, action at the Australian Open continues to feature some of the best in men’s singles. Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer look to notch their seventh singles title at Melbourne Park. Many stand in their way. Stay tuned to see how all of the action unfolds this year at the 2019 Australian Open.
