The 2019 Dubai Tennis Championships reaches the finals this weekend. Who is your pick to take the title in women’s singles?

Petra Kvitova and Belinda Bencic are the two players who face off for the women’s singles title at the Dubai Tennis Championships. Finals action is here and we have to breakdown how the two stack up against one another. Kvitova should be the odds on favorite as she is the second seed in Dubai this year, but can Bencic complete the upset?

Our pick is Kvitova in three sets. Bencic has fought way too hard to go down easily in Dubai, even if she’s going up against the red hot Kvitova. It is Kvitova though who has scoreboard when looking at their career head to head.

At the Australian Open earlier this year, Kvitova ousted Bencic in the round of 32. She knocked out the younger Swiss tennis star in straight sets, winning 6-1, 6-4. The Czech tennis player would end up going all the way to the finals at Melbourne Park, falling to eventual champion Naomi Osaka.

As we mentioned above, Bencic will not go down easily. She wins yet another hard-fought match in Dubai, this time against WTA Finals champion Elina Svitolina. The WTA Finals champ forced a third set. She and Bencic more or less traded the first two sets before taking the third to a tiebreak. Bencic emerged on top though, winning 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (3).

Both Kvitova and Bencic have displayed willpower in recent months that few can match. Kvitova’s semifinals win came against tennis veteran Hsieh Su-wei. She too needed three sets to clinch her spot in the finals. Even though she’s our pick to take the title, this one could also come down to who has the momentum early on in the match.

Do not give Kvitova the title just yet at the Dubai Tennis Championships. This finals matchup could end up being one of the best matches of 2019 so far. Kvitova, the veteran two-time Wimbledon champion, takes on one of the sport’s rising stars in Bencic. Action goes down this weekend. We like Kvitova in a tough back and forth final. Who’s your pick to win?
