Heading into play this month, both Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams are favorites when looking at the Indian Wells odds to win.

Let’s take a look at the Indian Wells odds in men’s singles first because that appears to be a bit more clearcut. Novak Djokovic is the heavy favorite according to oddsmakers prior to the 2019 Indian Wells Masters. Djokovic, a five-time champion at the event, is also coming off of his win at the Australian Open earlier this year.

The world number one has taken three consecutive Grand Slam titles and a Masters 1000 win in Indian Wells would tie him with Rafael Nadal at 33. Djokovic makes sense as the odds on favorite in men’s singles.

Behind the Serbian great, most oddsmakers have Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Alexander Zverev, and Nick Kyrgios. The young Australian is an interesting pick in that mix as he is coming off of a win at the 2019 Mexican Open. Kyrgios displayed fantastic tennis that we all know he is capable of when he decides to dig in and really play.

Who can challenge Djokovic on the ATP Tour? That remains to be seen but here’s a look at some of the other favorites at the Indian Wells Masters this year. The men’s singles field will be without its defending champion in Juan Martin del Potro.

The women’s singles side is a bit trickier when looking at the Indian Wells odds. Serena Williams is something of a surprise favorite according to some sportsbooks. The American does have two titles at the Indian Wells Masters but those came back in 1999 and 2001. She is playing well as of late though, reaching the quarterfinals at the Australian Open this year.

If Williams is healthy and playing strong, consistent tennis, it’s difficult to bet against her. She has played intermittently in the past two years though and women’s singles is jam packed with both young and veteran talent. The defending champion at Indian Wells is rising WTA star and Australian Open champion Naomi Osaka. Other players to watch include the last player to defeat Williams in Karolina Pliskova and Czech great Petra Kvitova.

Look for the Indian Wells odds to shift as we near the main draw. As of now though, Djokovic and Williams top the charts. The likes of Federer, Nadal, Osaka, Simona Halep, and many more though, could easily emerge as top contenders in both men’s and women’s singles tennis.
