Former world number one Caroline Wozniacki is fighting her way back to top form on the WTA Tour. She is seeing success at the Miami Open.

Caroline Wozniacki is battling her way back to top form on the WTA Tour. The Danish tennis star is a former world number one and the 2018 champion in women’s singles at the Australian Open. So far at the Miami Open, Wozniacki is winning and appears to be her old self.

The tennis star has been suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and a viral illness sidelined her for much of the past two months. With a slow start to the 2019 WTA Tour, other top players in women’s singles have surged past Wozniacki. That could all be changing.

Two wins at the Miami Open could be a sign that Wozniacki is bouncing back. She defeats both Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Monica Niculescu in straight sets. Winning hard fought matches, the Danish tennis star takes on Hsieh Su-wei next in Miami.

Except for one match at the Indian Wells Masters, Wozniacki’s last singles action came at the Australian Open. There, she took two matches before falling to Russian legend Maria Sharapova in the round of 32. There is plenty of time for the former world number one to crack the WTA Top 10 yet again and make her way back to the top.

Other players for Wozniacki on tour right now include Naomi Osaka, Petra Kvitova, Angelique Kerber, Simona Halep, Elina Svitolina, and Sloane Stephens among others. Those are just some of the top players in women’s singles. Other rising stars are also making their way up the rankings. Canadian teenager Bianca Andreescu jumped in the rankings after she made history at Indian Wells earlier this month.
