Grigor Dimitrov shows up with stellar Miami Open performance

Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov bounces back from injury with a strong opening round win at the 2019 Miami Open. How far can he advance?
Battling back from a shoulder injury, Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov is in action this month at the 2019 Miami Open. Dimitrov touched career heights back on the 2017 ATP Tour when he reached the world number three ranking in men’s singles tennis. That year, he defeated David Goffin to win the end of year ATP Finals in London.
Dimitrov has been fighting for the last two years to get back to his top form. A shoulder injury following the Australian Open has not made 2019 any easier.

Time away from the court makes Dimitrov a bit of a wildcard in Miami. He does, however, show up with a straight set victory over Feliciano López. The world number 29 wins his opening match with ease, going 6-1, 6-3 over the Spanish veteran.
Up next for Dimitrov is Australian tennis player Jordan Thompson. The two face off on Monday at the Miami Open. Thompson is coming off of a huge win over the 10th seeded Karen Khachanov. This will be a must watch match.
So far so good for Dimitrov at the Miami Open but he needs to prove that his shoulder is truly up for the test. Following his loss to American Frances Tiafoe at Melbourne Park, Dimitrov withdrew from several tournaments before attempting to test himself out at the Indian Wells Masters. He would pull out of action there and heal up further in preparation for Miami.
While Dimitrov is not one of the top seeds in men’s singles at the 2019 Miami Open, he could be someone to watch moving forward if his shoulder holds up. Dimitrov has tremendous experience to draw from despite missing tons of court time in the last two months. If he can get into a groove and stay there in Miami, Dimitrov will be a tough opponent for anyone who comes his way.
Stay tuned to see how Grigor Dimitrov fares in his upcoming match and throughout the remainder of his time at the 2019 Miami Open. Fans and players alike want him to be back in top form and challenging the best the ATP Tour has to offer.
