Petra Kvitova survives a three set match with Donna Vekić. Up next for the third seed is a tough opponent in the 19th seeded Caroline Garcia.
Ashleigh Barty and Kiki Bertens square off in the round of 16 and surging Canadian tennis star Bianca Andreescu continues to make history, ousting Angelique Kerber yet again and sets up a meeting with Anett Kontaveit. Several round of 32 matchups set the stage for the Sunday action. American Danielle Collins takes on Wang Yafan, Karolína Plíšková faces Alize Cornet, and American veteran Venus Williams takes on 14th seeded Daria Kasatkina.
Another player to watch is Romanian great Simona Halep as she goes up against Polona Hercog. Halep opened her time in Miami with a strong 6-1, 6-3 victory over Taylor Townsend. Stay tuned to see how action in women’s singles unfolds this weekend at the 2019 Miami Open.
