Wimbledon 2025 begins on Monday, June 30, and will run through Sunday, July 13. There are, of course, numerous plotlines to follow, and four of them are mentioned here. One that isn't is whether a ladies' player from the Czech Republic will win the tournament for the third straight year.

In 2023, Marketa Vondrousova took the title unexpectedly. The same happened in 2024 when Barbora Krejčíková won the trophy. Neither is expected to win in 2025, but that seems to be just when the Czech players get surprise victories.

One thing seems certain at this point on the men's side. Either Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz will win the Wimbledon title. They are the only two players to have won a Grand Slam since the Australian Open in 2024.

4 storylines to watch at Wimbledon 2025

Can Jannik Sinner prove he can beat Carlos Alcaraz?

Sinner and Alcaraz are easily the two best players on the ATP tour currently and will turn out to be the best of their generation. The great part for tennis fans is that we are seeing the beginning of a rivalry that should last most of the next decade. The issue for Sinner is that he can't seem to beat Alcaraz lately.

The Italian did defeat the Spaniard in the ultimately meaningless Six Kings Slam exhibition late in 2024, but in ATP-sanctioned matches, Sinner has lost his last five to Alcaraz. This includes two losses over the last two years at the French Open.

Alcaraz appears to be better on clay and grass courts, and the Spaniard has won the last two years at Wimbledon. Sinner beating him in London appears far-fetched.

Can Aryna Sabalenka prove she is potentially historically great?

Sabalenka is a great player, and there is no argument against that. What keeps her from being historically great is that while she reaches tournament finals, she does not dominate once there. She has won an impressive 20 tour titles throughout her career, but she has lost 18 finals.

To cement her spot as a highly memorable player in 20 years, she needs to win a few more Grand Slams. Her best result at Wimbledon so far has been making the semifinals twice. She needs to win the major in 2025.

Will Alexander Bublik finally win a big one?

Before winning the title in Halle recently. Bublik had a losing record on the ATP tour. The oddity is that he has the serve and shot-making to maintain a top-10 ranking. He either hasn't had the drive to be great or has simply had bad luck. At 28 years old. Bublik might realize he is starting to run out of time to be at his best over a long period of time.

His game should translate to grass well, as was proven when he defeated Sinner and Daniil Medvedev at the Terra Wortmann Open this past week. He will be a dangerous player at Wimbledon, an event he has never gone past the fourth round, if he shows up motivated.

Can Novak Djokovic win No. 25?

It's strange that the most accomplished player in tennis history is still playing, but few speak about him as if he has a real chance to win Wimbledon. This makes sense, though. He is ranked in the top 10, but he hasn't won a major since 2023, and he was embarrassed in the Wimbledon final last year by Alcaraz.

Can Djokovic win Wimbledon in 2025? Sure. Discounting him has always been foolish, but chances are still slim for him.
