Amanda Anisimova is having herself a summer. She made the Wimbledon final, and while she was whitewashed by Iga Swiatek, the American got her revenge at the US Open as Anisimova defeated Swiatek in the semifinals.
To overcome such a defeat and bounce back to get to the final in the next Grand Slams is incredible. But in the final in New York, she will have to overcome more than nerves. Aryna Sabalenka is the top-ranked player on the WTA tour and the defending champion at the US Open.
The victory would be Sabalenka's first major title in 2025, though. Unlike the ATP side, which is dominated by Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, whoever wins in New York will be the fourth different Grand Slam winner this year on the women's side.
How to watch and who will win the US Open women's final between Amanda Anisimova and Aryna Sabalenka
So who will win? In a way, Amanda Anisimova is already a winner. She moved up five spots in the live rankings and is now No. 4. No matter what happens in the final, the rankings won't change from what they are in the live rankings. Sabalenka will stay No. 1.
One thing is certain, though. A lot of power will be on display when Sabalenka and Anisimova play. Both have powerful strokes from both sides and can dictate play with their serves. Sabalenka might be a tick better.
While the Belarusian will go down as one of the best players of her generation, she doesn't have a great record in finals, going just 20-18. The match might come down to Anisimova winning a game early.
Going winless in her only Grand Slam final previously, she will likely add belief with just one win. If she can jump out to an early lead, she will win. If she gets easily defeated by Sabalenka, the Belarusian will probably win in straight sets. The guess here is that Anisimova gets her first major title in three sets.
