Final Results

In the discerning eyes of the Lob and Smash team, there was one player who emerged as leading candidate for the best male category. As world number one and favourite heading into the Championships perhaps it is no surprise that he has ended the fortnight on top.

How different things could have been had Kevin Anderson held his nerve in the fourth round, only two games from victory at the end of the fifth set. It is a measure of Djokovic, that despite that setback he quickly refocussed and battled through the remainder of the draw.

Voting Outcome

5 – Novak Djokovic

1 – Roger Federer

1 – Richard Gasquet

More from Majors

Roger Federer may well feel hard done by, as he arguably produced the best performance in eliminating Andy Murray at the semi final stage. The way he breezed through the opening rounds untroubled was reminiscent too of the Swiss legend at his very best.

It is also welcome to see Richard Gasquet gain recognition with one vote and also a number of honourable mentions. The Frenchman’s level was incredibly high before coming unstuck against Novak Djokovic and is a worthy name on this elite list.
