Action at the 2019 Dubai Tennis Championships is into the quarterfinals in men’s singles and Gael Monfils is among the winners.
French tennis star Gael Monfils wins his quarterfinals match at the 2019 Dubai Tennis Championships. Monfils is red hot as of late. Earlier this month, he went on an incredible run at the ATP Rotterdam Open. Defeating Swiss great Stan Wawrinka in the finals, Monfils solidified his place on the 2019 ATP Tour and has kept up the pace in Dubai. Take a look back at the highlights of his Rotterdam win here.
Three matches, three wins so far. Monfils defeats the likes of Croatian great and third seeded Marin Cilic, Marcos Baghdatis, and then Ričardas Berankis in the quarters.
Now, the French tennis star is two matches away from another title in 2019. Roger Federer, however, also remains alive at the 2019 Dubai Tennis Championships. The Swiss tennis legend is the greatest champion in men’s singles at the event.
With seven men’s singles titles to his name here, Federer is the perennial favorite if he’s in the field. Federer is yet to play his quarterfinals match. He takes on Márton Fucsovics next in Dubai.
Federer is coming off of two hard fought wins over Philipp Kohlschreiber and Fernando Verdasco. The Swiss great has managed to escape defeat in each of his first two matches. Both went to three sets.
