American tennis star John Isner remains alive in the men’s singles action at the 2019 Miami Open. Can he win another title here?

John Isner wins again at the Miami Open this month. His most recent victory comes over British number one and up and coming star Kyle Edmund. Despite a good effort from Edmund, Isner survives, winning a hard-fought two set match. The towering American ousts his younger challenger, going 7-6 (5), 7-6 (3).

We knew it would be a close match but gave the edge to Isner. Last year at the Miami Open, the American won the title. He defeated Alexander Zverev in the finals.

Elsewhere at the Miami Open, top seed Novak Djokovic squares off against Roberto Bautista Agut. Also still in action is Swiss great Roger Federer. He takes on Daniil Medvedev next. If either Djokovic or Federer continue to advance, they must be considered favorites to take the title. Isner, however, could be right up there with them.

The American tennis veteran is seeing tremendous success in the early months of the 2019 ATP Tour. Add on top of that his defending champion status in Miami and he is a dangerous opponent for anyone moving forward.

As Isner awaits his next opponent, we will keep an eye on how the remaining round of 16 meetings unfold. Also still to play is Australian Nick Kyrgios, South African tennis star Kevin Anderson, and David Goffin among others.
